Othello- Blog 3

As the play, Othello by Shakespeare, goes on it is evident that Iago has atrocious plans behind him. He wants Roderigo to anger Cassio and after Cassio is fired, wants him to grow close to Desdemonia to help restore Othello's faith in Cassio. Because Iago wants Cassio's reputation to go down the drain, he orders Roderigo to anger Cassio. Cassio is drunked by Iago and when confronted by Roderigo, he attacks. It all works just as Iago plans and it causes Cassio to get fired by Othello. Later, Iago tells Cassio to, "Confess yourself freely to her, importunate her help to put you in your place again" (II.iii.288-281). He wants to make him seem as if Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair. It is part of his evil plan to cause Othello to hate Cassio even more and make himself seem like the good guy. Cassio would open himself to Desdemona and cause Othello to get the wrong impression. It is only going to work because Cassio has such a kind and flirtatious way with woman.
