Othello- Blog 5

In Othello by Shakespeare, Bianca is a character which is rarely seen. She is quite an important character for she is the reason that Othello believes that Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair. How, you may ask? It is Iago who does this. Iago is clever enough to bring Cassio in to a room speaking of Bianca and making Othello believe that Cassio is speaking about Desdemona. "I marr her! What a customer! I prithee bear some charity to my wit. Do not think its so unwholesome. Ha, ha, ha!" (IV.i.117-118). Cassio has called Bianca a whore, but Othello thinks that Cassio is calling Desdemona a whore. It is only a more horrible implantation of a false idea into Othello's mind. Othello has already heard enough lies and being fooled in this way is causing him to doubt to the max in Desdemona. It has gotten to the point that Othello has hit Desdemona.
